About Kivulini
Ten years of holding space for children to grow.
Kivulini School opened its gates in 2014 in Lower Kabete, founded by Mary Mwangi on a simple conviction: that every child deserves a warm, loving environment where who they are is celebrated while who they’re becoming is patiently built.
Our story
Kivulini was born out of a deep, personal conviction that children thrive when they are loved, cared for and nurtured to bring out their best — not pushed through a syllabus. Over a decade later, that conviction hasn’t moved an inch, even as the school has grown into one of the most respected institutions in the Kabete–Kiambu–Nairobi corridor.
Along the way, Kivulini built something distinctive: an integrated curriculum where the child-led discovery of Montessori education meets the structure and national recognition of Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum. Each learner is treated as an individual with a unique set of skills and talents, nurtured and stimulated at their own pace, right through to Junior School.

A Message From Our Founder
Mary Mwangi, Founder & Director
Since Kivulini’s founding in 2014, our aim has stayed the same — a warm, loving environment where every child is nurtured to become their best self, academically, socially and emotionally. We’re proud to be rated among the region’s best, with strong academics sitting alongside a genuinely wide range of co-curricular activities, all aligned to Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum. Kivulini runs one seamless journey from Crèche to Junior School, and none of it would be possible without a team that is simply passionate about children. Join us — let’s inspire greatness together, one child at a time.
